Radisson Hotel Group, one of India's top three hotel groups, plans to have 200 properties under its fold by 2022, a top company official said.

The group, which recently underwent a branding change following its separation with Carlson Rezidor brand, is focussing on secondary and tertiary markets for expansion.

At least 130 hotels will be operational and a further 70 would be under construction in the next five years. The group has 90 properties under operation and a further 50 properties under construction at present. There will be 100 operational properties of the group by end of this year.

The number of rooms will also double to 20,000 by 2022 from around 10,000 at present. Four new properties will come up in Mumbai, some of which will be near the airport.

Radisson already has six brands operational in India with Radisson Park Inn and Radisson Blu being the most popular ones. Plans are afoot to add the luxury brand Radisson Collection and budget brand Prizeotel to the list in the next few years.

The first Radisson Collection in fact is coming up in Agra, located on Taj East Gate Road with 239 rooms and suites. It will join a global list of 13 other hotels to be launched under the same brand.

Raj Rana, CEO, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said, "The mid-market segment is the fastest growing segment in India. And based on this the average occupancy level had risen to 66 per cent and the average room rate increased to Rs 5700 for the industry last year. 2018 is going to be a very good year and we can expect rates to go past the all-time high".
